Every seller wants to know what people are actually searching for on Etsy. The honest answer starts with a confession no keyword tool likes to make: nobody outside Etsy has Etsy's real search volume. So this is not another list of invented monthly numbers. It's the most-searched Etsy keyword phrases of 2026 — the ones sellers most often research in our own keyword tool — each measured against Google Trends for the direction it's heading, grouped by category, with a link to see any phrase's live five-year history. Real signal, labelled honestly, ready to build listings around.
The short version
- Nobody outside Etsy has Etsy's search volume — every "Etsy search volume" number in a paid tool is an estimate, so this list uses measured demand instead.
- Each phrase is drawn from our own record of what sellers research, then measured against Google Trends for its direction: rising, flat or falling.
- The most-searched phrase is usually the hardest to rank for — a small shop wins on the long-tail version of it.
- Season only means something when demand actually swings — Christmas and Halloween terms have a real peak; most everyday phrases are searched year-round.
- Every phrase can be opened in the free Keyword History Explorer to see its live five-year shape before you commit.
01How we measured this (and why nobody has real Etsy search volume)
Here is the truth every keyword tool buries in the fine print: Etsy does not publish search volume for its own search bar, and nobody outside Etsy has it. When a tool shows you an exact monthly number for an Etsy keyword, it is estimating it from other signals and presenting the guess as a fact.
So we did the opposite. This list is built from two measured signals: our own record of the keyword phrases Etsy sellers most often research in our free tool, and five years of Google Trends data for each of those phrases. From Trends we take the honest things — whether demand is rising, flat or falling, and whether a phrase has a real seasonal peak. We never attach a made-up monthly search count.
One rule for reading it: a "peak month" only means something when demand genuinely swings through the year. A Christmas or Halloween phrase has a real season; a phrase like "gold necklace" is searched steadily all year, so we don't pretend it peaks in a particular month.

02The most-searched Etsy keyword phrases of 2026, by category
Twelve categories, the phrases sellers research most, and the direction each is heading. Open any of them in the free keyword tool to see its measured demand and five-year shape.
Jewelry: personalized jewelry (rising), personalized necklace (rising), gold necklace (rising), name necklace (rising), geometric bracelet (rising). Almost all of jewelry is trending up, and searched year-round rather than in one season.
Digital & printables: instant download (rising), printable wall art (rising), digital planner (flat), digital art (rising), digital download (steady). The format words lead the searches; "instant download" and "printable" are climbing.
Home & wall decor: home decor (rising), retro kitchen decor (rising), minimalist wall art (steady), macrame wall hanging (flat), halloween decor (searched year-round but with a sharp real peak in September). Retro and minimalist are the rising sub-styles.
Clothing & accessories: casual wear (rising), light blue dress (rising), casual outfit (rising), minimalist style (flat), garden party outfit (flat, and it climbs into spring). Style and occasion words carry these searches more than the word "shirt".
Wedding: wedding invitation (flat), wedding card (flat), bride gift (flat), wedding invitation website (rising), beach wedding guest (flat). Wedding demand builds through the spring and summer wedding season rather than sitting flat.
Candles & bath: soy candle (rising), scented candle (steady), wooden candle (rising), candle holders glass (flat, with a real lift into the November holidays), lavender soy candle (steady). Wax type and scent lead the search, not the bare word "candle".
Pet: custom pet portrait (rising), cat lover gift (rising), cat cross stitch (rising), custom pet art (steady), custom watercolour pet portraits (flat, lifting toward December gifting). "Custom" and "personalised" do the heavy lifting here.
Stickers: vinyl sticker (flat), custom stickers (flat), floral decal (rising), sticker paper (flat), hibiscus stickers (rising). A high-volume, low-swing category — searched steadily all year, so timing matters less than specificity.
Party & seasonal: christmas ornament (rising), merry christmas (rising), christmas wreath (flat), halloween tree decorations (flat), birthday gift idea (rising). This is the category with the strongest real seasons — Christmas terms peak into November and December, Halloween into September. List six to eight weeks ahead.
Craft & supplies: leather journal (rising), black leather journal (rising), leather journal notebook (rising), hardcover journal (rising), crochet pattern (steady). Journals are the standout rising sub-niche in craft supplies.
Gifts: gift for her (rising), housewarming gift (flat), anniversary gift (flat), sports fan gift (rising), nature lover gift (rising). Gifting phrases belong in your tags, paired with the item in the title.
Baby & kids: baby shower gift (flat, climbing into spring shower season), plus nursery and personalised-name phrases that stay steady year-round. A more evergreen niche with fewer sharp seasonal spikes.
03How to use a most-searched keyword without fighting 50,000 listings
A most-searched keyword is a trap if you use it wrong. "necklace" is searched by everyone and sold by millions of shops — a new listing will never surface for it. The phrases above are useful for two jobs, and only one of them gets you seen.
The wrong job: pasting the single most-searched phrase into your title and hoping. You are now competing with every listing that did exactly the same thing.
The right job: use the head phrase to understand the category, then list on the long-tail version of it — "dainty gold initial necklace" instead of "necklace". Fewer searches, far fewer competitors, and a buyer who already knows what they want. Take a most-searched phrase, add the material, the style and the recipient, spread it across your title and all 13 tags, and check the real competition before you commit. That is how a small shop wins a keyword that a giant owns.
Nobody outside Etsy has Etsy's search volume. So we stopped pretending — and measured demand instead.
