Trending Etsy Keywords — September 2026, Measured

This is not a listicle of guessed volumes. Every number below is a measurement from our keyword panel: year-over-year movement from Google Trends, and shelf conditions — result counts, ad share, prices — read live from Etsy search. The snapshot was frozen on September 17; each keyword links to its live data page, where the numbers keep updating daily. This month a keyword only appears among the risers if it has both a real trend signal and a real Etsy shelf we can read, so the list stays craft, not chatter.

01 · Climbing year-over-year

The measured risers

These keywords are searched meaningfully more than in the same window a year ago — year-over-year movement, which is the honest way to read a trend rather than a seasonal bump. The spread is wide. Men leather tote leads at +1288% on a crowded 49,000-listing shelf where 60% of the top slots are ads. Personalized teacher gift climbs +1100% into a huge 379,000-result field. And ceramic mug set rises +1057% with an unusually light 8% ad share — a rare rising term where the top of the page is not yet bought up. Each bar shows the climb; the line beneath it shows what you would be walking into — how many results, how much of the shelf is ads, and what the top of the page charges.

02 · The Q4 wave

Keywords whose peak is still ahead

These are the panel's keywords whose five-year seasonal peak lands between September and December — which makes now the listing window, not the waiting window. Each mini-chart is that keyword's year: the red bar is its peak month, the green outline is where you are standing right now. Coffee mug peaks in December on an enormous 1.7-million-listing shelf; grapevine wreath peaks in November at a $76 median; crochet hat, aunt gifts and friendsgiving gift are all climbing toward their own late-year peaks. If the green box sits left of the red bar, the climb is still ahead of you — and a listing published now has time to rank before the wave arrives.

03 · Ad pressure

The most contested shelves

Ad share tells you how much of page one is for sale. On these keywords half or more of the visible top slots are paid placements — minimalist leather card holder tops the list at 67%, with jute rug living room and citrine crystal at 60% — meaning organic space is scarcer than the raw result count suggests, and the sellers there are spending real money to hold position. High ad share is not a reason to avoid a keyword; it is a signal that the buyers there convert well enough to be worth paying for. It IS a reason to enter with a sharper listing, or a longer-tail variation that sidesteps the auction.

What the top of the page charges

The same live shelf reads give us the median price of the visible top results — the price band buyers actually see first. The spread across the panel is striking: cut-file digital downloads like love svg and wedding svg sit near $1 to $2, while at the other end vintage engagement ring commands about $909 and large sculpture around $440. If your price sits far outside your keyword's band, you are either a bargain that looks suspicious or a premium that needs the photos to justify it — worth knowing before you list, not after.

How this is measured — and what we refuse to publish

The panel behind this post is the same one powering our keyword pages: Google Trends year-over-year comparisons for direction, five-year monthly averages for seasonality, and live reads of Etsy search for shelf conditions, refreshed continuously by the tools on this site. What you will not find here are absolute search volumes such as 5,400 searches per month — no public source provides them for Etsy, so every tool that prints them is estimating. We publish only the measurements we can stand behind, we link every keyword to its live page so you can watch the numbers move yourself, and we keep noise out: a keyword reaches the risers only when it carries both a real trend signal and a real Etsy shelf, so a spike driven by something other than craft demand does not masquerade as an Etsy trend.

The panel grows every month

This is the September snapshot of a growing panel — 1,000 keywords, of which 757 currently carry full trend measurements and 538 have a fresh Etsy shelf read. Every search in the free keyword tool and every rank check adds keywords to the panel, and the daily refresh deepens the history behind each one. Next month's edition will read from a bigger, richer panel; the month after, bigger still. If a keyword you care about is missing, search it in the free tool — that is literally how it joins the panel.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these numbers come from?
Two measured sources: Google Trends (year-over-year direction and five-year seasonality, US) and live reads of Etsy search results (result counts, ad share, prices of the visible top slots). The snapshot date is printed at the top of the post; the linked keyword pages keep updating daily.
Why don't you show monthly search volumes?
Because nobody outside Etsy has them. Etsy publishes no search-volume API, so tools that display exact monthly volumes are estimating — sometimes wildly. We show relative demand on Google Trends' 0-100 scale and real shelf conditions instead: measured, verifiable, and honest about what they are.
Why did the risers change from last month?
The risers are the keywords with the strongest year-over-year climb that also have a real Etsy shelf we can read, measured fresh for this month's snapshot. As the panel grows and demand moves, the list changes — that is the point of a monthly measurement rather than a fixed list.
How do I get my keyword into next month's edition?
Search it in the free Etsy keyword tool. Every search seeds the panel, and once a keyword accumulates trend and shelf measurements it becomes eligible for these monthly editions and gets its own live data page.
